I. There is a problem in society today. That problem is:
That welfare is taking a significant amount of U.S. income from the government with certain things that are not needed such as drugs and alcohol. Welfare, though it may be beneficial to the poor, is draining funds to prevent poverty in the U.S. and to help truly needy families that are homeless or worse. Welfare cuts a third of state and government funds every year which is troubling since the U.S. debt is vastly growing every year.
II. Facts that demonstrate that there is a problem are:

In Montgomery County of Ohio, the welfare system there has taken so much money from other programs in the county causing analysts to say that their 18 million dollar income for those programs will dwindle down to more than half of that. In Oregon, State Representative Stephen Wood has seen the welfare system abused by its recipients with buying cigarettes and lottery tickets along with getting cash back.
